UNLEASH CONFERENCE 2009

If you are a volunteer or volunteer leader in any capacity at Lifepoint this is for you!!

March 11th and 12th we are going to Anderson, SC to Newspring Church for a one day conference. You give of your time, your energy, your resources each week to the vision of this church and we want to spend two days investing you. We will leave Fredericksburg on Wednesday stay over night in SC and attend the conference on Thursday. The cost is $50 per person for 4 to a room OR $75 per person with 2 to a room. You will also be responsible for 3 meals while on the road.

DEAD PIGS

So, Jesus commanded the demons to go into the pigs and then they ran off a steep cliff and died. Result: two men freed from demon possession - hallelujah - or if your the owner of the pigs - a bunch of dead pigs.

For most people that day this was an amazing - men that were known to be demon possessed had just been set free by this man named Jesus. However, I imagine that not everyone was thrilled with what took place, especially the owner of the pigs.

The same is true for you - not everyone will be thrilled when Jesus set's you free because it affects their world.

Maybe Jesus set's you free and you stop sleeping with him or her.

Maybe Jesus set's you free and you stop gossiping with her or him (yes, men gossip).

Maybe Jesus set's you free and you stop enabling negativity and critical thinking.

Not everyone will be happy but YOU WILL BE FREE!

A Few Highlights of 2008

2008 has been an awesome year and I can't wait to see what 2009 has to hold. Here are a few of the high points for me..

• Celebrating 4 years of marriage to the most amazing woman.
• Owen's 1st birthday.
• Bought our first home.
• My sisters and I gave mom and dad a cruise for their anniversary.
• Moved the church from Parkside to Chancellor High School.
• Baptized 63 people spontaneously one Sunday.
• Largest attended Easter service in our short history.
• Over 50 salvations on Christmas Eve
• Attending the White House Christmas open house.
• Carribean Cruise with Tammie.
• Advancing the Kingdom with the greatest staff on the planet.
• Serving the most powerful volunteer team there is.
• Waking up each day and getting to be the Pastor of Lifepiont.

2009 is going to be amazing - get ready!!

Thoughts on the Bailout!

First, let me say that I don't claim to be an economist. However, as I was watching TV last night and listened to the President issue a strong warning about the implications of our final situations I had a few thoughts.

* I can't even begin to understand the pressure that our government leaders experience - I should pray for them more.

* God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind - when we respond to these situations in fear we are no longer thinking with a sound mind as God designed. Fear paralyzes, fear grips, fear stifles, fear causes us to make decisions based on emotional cloudiness and not on clear vision, fear leads us backwards and not forward. 

* Perfect love cast out all fear. When we really GET the perfect love of God we TRUST the one who has the power to make nations tremble and holds the hearts of Kings in His hand.

So, pray for our leaders, don't operate in fear, and trust completely in the perfect love of our great God!

Make THEM successful

Success a simple word with deep complexities and definitions unique to each individual.  Because success is individually defined, organizations are defined by the success of their people.  Consider Microsoft, built on the success of Bill Gates its founder, but his personal success alone could not have built the enterprise we know today.  He had to invest in and lead others to their own success and they, in turn, led others and so on.  

How much more important is this truth for us the Church?  

Microsoft transformed the way we communicate and share information.  But only the Church, designed by God to harness the power of individual vision, passion, purpose and success, and then mobilize its energy toward a focused mission can transform lives and entire communities.  Leaders lead people, not businesses or ministries.  Their success can be measured by the success of the people they serve.

An On Time Word!

This is my take away from Cymbala.

The right word at the wrong time is the wrong word.

It can be biblical, it can be practical, it can be encouraging, it can even be heartfelt. But if it's not God's word for that time it's the wrong word. Jeremiah said that his heart was grieved by the false prophet's. These prophets were preaching in the name of God but they had not spent time with God to hear what He wanted them to say. They were teaching the right word at the wrong time! God told Jeremiah if only they had spent time in my presence I would have told them what to say.

Application: If we are going to bring and on time word it only flows from time spent in his presence.
